Green pancake for St. Patrick's Day

Go wild with the food coloring and paint your pancakes green! If you already have a favorite recipe - simply use green food coloring on it, otherwise, follow  this recipe:

INGREDIENTS:

    1 1/4 cups flour

    1 tablespoon baking powder

    1 tablespoon sugar

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1 beaten egg

    1 1/4 cups milk

    2 tablespoons butter (melted)

    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Green food coloring

  1. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  2. In a separate bowl or cup, combine egg, melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract.
  3. Mix Together the wet and dry ingredients, adding the wet to the dry ingredients.
  4. Add a drop or two of green food coloring and mix until it is completely combined with the batter.
  5. Heat your pan to high. Grease slightly and cook pancakes. For an extra festive flair, use metal shamrock cookie cutters to shape pancakes.

2. Buttercream icing

Cupcake with green Icing
Make the baking exciting by coloring it green. I think the buttercream flavor is the yummiest:

INGREDIENTS

- 2 ½ to 3 cups powdered sugar (also called confectioner’s sugar and icing sugar)
- 1/2 a cup of butter softened in room temperature (half cup is 1 stick of butter which is 4 ounces)
- 1/4 cup of caramel
- 1/4 cup of heavy cream
- Green food coloring
- hand mixer or a stand mixer

  1. Gather everything you need.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the butter and caramel.
  3. Whip them up in low speed with your mixer.
  4. Add in the cream and whip again until well combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, sift the powdered sugar. Powdered sugar tends to have lumps in it that will make the icing lumpy if the sugar is not sifted.
